Per the JHA Style Guide for Technical Communication and Training, when creating documentation in Word, PowerPoint, or a similar program, use the following font styles for user interface terms. (For content created in XML, style sheets may allow for more exact user interface definitions and a broader range of styles.)
Use italics for:
- Screens, windows, and panels
- SharePoint web parts
- Wizards
- Reports
- System-generated messages
Use bold for:
- Tabs
- Menus
- Options
- Buttons
- Fields
- Entries in a field
